The Museum has extensive collections that began in Phoenician times with the wrecks Mazarrón 1 and 2 and the site of the Bajo de la Campana and reach the s. XIX with the loading of the frigate Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes.
The collections have been formed over fifty years of archaeological research and campaigns of prospecting and excavation of underwater deposits, on the coast of the Region of Murcia. In recent years, we have also increased these funds with donations and deposits, both state and Autonomous Communities, thanks to the collaboration that the center makes with other agencies. In addition, the Ministry of Culture and Sport has assigned the shipment of the wreck Our Lady of Mercy to the stable collection of the same, collection that has been increased recently with the pieces recovered by the Museum in three archaeological campaigns carried out in the years 2015, 2016 and 2017.
